In 2017 the Leichtag Foundation will celebrate its 10th anniversary since becoming independent in 2007. Additionally, in 2016, we celebrated the 25th anniversary since the beginning of the Leichtag Family Foundation, which was started by Lee and Toni Leichtag and their daughter Joli Ann following the sale of their company in 1991.
In honor of these milestones, we wanted to feature a few of our grantees from our four strategies and some legacy grantees in this retrospective. Here you can learn about work that began with Lee and Toni and that continues today guided by our board. Since becoming independent, the Leichtag Foundation has granted over $100 million dollars. The Leichtags believed their success and good fortune was to be held in trust for this community.
These grantees are organizations that confront complicated and challenging social problems, economic distress, and inequality. Their work is critically important to fulfilling the values of the Leichtags. As the Torah insists, “Justice, justice shall you pursue.”
In the adjacent menu you’ll find a few grantees broken down by strategic area. We invite you to explore and enjoy learn more about the fine work of these organizations that work incredibly hard to improve all our lives.
