Jerusalem Conversations with Beliba Choma

Choma, a grantee of ours working in Jerusalem, visited our offices today in Encinitas for “Jerusalem Conversations,” our series this month on social activism and building civil society. In Jerusalem, more and more men and women from the ultra-orthodox Haredi community are seeking higher education degrees to join the Israeli workforce, but often struggle with subjects like math and English. Beliba Choma בליבה חומה (“A Wall in its Midst”) identified this need and bring non-religious students to help tutor and support these ultra-orthodox students, while at the same time building cooperation between the two sectors and creating a connection of mutual responsibility. We have more Jerusalem Conversations happening later this month. View them here.
