Rabbi Andy Kastner gave a wonderful introduction to “Cultivating a Better Food System” last night, about food justice and it’s connection to Passover.
Passover is a seminar in understanding the complexity and reality of slavery. Reminds us that we were once slaves, and that slavery still exists.
Cultivating a better food system looks at our food not as something that is to feed me, but as something can feed the we.
After all we’ve learned over the past few months about the Self Sufficiency Standard and poverty in our region, we will definitely be thinking about matzah, the bread of affliction and poverty, in a new way this Passover.
