Who Holds the Mic? Storytelling Ethics in the Nonprofit World

July 11 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

- $12

Stories shape our organizations, our relationships with donors and constituents, and most importantly, our own self-perceptions. Through a Community-Centric Fundraising lens, we will explore how narratives we share, and the way we share them, hinder our ability to foster trust and scale our impact.

We will examine three crucial facets of storytelling—power, transparency, and consent—and unravel their intricate dynamics. We will uncover the potential harm that can arise from storytelling practices and explore aligning strategies with our ethical responsibilities.

This thought-provoking session is designed for anyone curious about the intersection of storytelling, ethics, and trust within the nonprofit sector. We’ll discuss how intentional storytelling rooted in ethical principles can create lasting impact and cultivate trust within your organization and the communities you serve. Together, we will explore how cultivating trust through ethical storytelling can propel us toward a more equitable future for nonprofits and those who benefit from them.

Facilitated by Maria Rio, Founder, Further Together.

This workshop is brought to you in partnership with Dr. Bronner’s and San Diego Gives.
