SUMMARY:Pivot Masters: Staff Culture
DESCRIPTION:While the current global pandemic has shaken many organizations in our Jewish communal field to the core\, it has also provided an opportunity for experimentation\, collaboration\, and creativity like never seen before. JCoco\, the Jewish Collaborative Coworking network\, has witnessed examples of extraordinary leadership from around the globe pivoting in the areas of spiritual connectivity\, staff culture\, fundraising and community engagement. Please join us as we hear from leaders representing organizations with diverse missions as they share their stories of “pivoting” in a time of crisis.\n\nTopic: Staff Culture\nTimes: 2PM (PDT) / 4PM (CST) / 5PM (EST) / 11PM (CEST) / 12AM (IDT) / 7AM (AEST) \n———————————————————————————————————- \nNicole Nevarez\, National Director\, Ta’amod \nNicole is the inaugural National Director of Ta’amod\, a multi-pronged initiative dedicated to ending gender abuse and harassment in the Jewish communal space. A Jewish educator\, trainer and facilitator\, Nicole has held leadership positions for local and National Jewish organizations and nonprofit NYC theaters. Most recently\, she served as New York Director for Moving Traditions\, a Jewish communal organization committed to teen wellness work through a gender and Jewish lens. In addition to her work with Ta’amod\, she provides independent consulting to mission-critical organizations to support them with positive internal culture and is a personal development coach. Nicole believes that when we do the work to reflect on ourselves and our organizations\, we have the power to impact deep systemic change. \nShe lives in San Diego\, CA with her husband\, Rabbi Jason Nevarez their two children and Sadie the dog! \n  \nAlena Akselrod\, Senior Program Director\, Leading Edge \nAlena sees her work at Leading Edge as the perfect outlet for her passions as she works on supporting and enhancing the Jewish nonprofit field and the talent that is responsible for all facets of Jewish life. In her capacity as Senior Program Director\, Alena works within the Leading Places to Work Initiative and P2C: People Pro Collective. Alena’s portfolio encompasses the Leading Edge Employee Experience Survey\, P2C initiatives\, and graphic design for an element of fun. Her work\, in many ways\, is focused on helping Jewish organizations on their journey to become even better places to work. \nAlena grew up in Brooklyn after emigrating from the Former Soviet Union in the mid-90s. Her passion for working with youth\, propelled her into a career working with Russian-speaking Jewish (RSJ) immigrant families at a community center in South Brooklyn. She grew her career to encompass a robust marketing\, community organizing\, and communications portfolio\, but her true love will always be facilitating identity and leadership programs\, as well as creating new entry points into Jewish life for the RSJ community. Alena left the agency after 13 years to pursue a dual Masters – an MBA in Nonprofit Management and an MA in Jewish Professional Leadership at Brandeis University. She is an MBTI certified practitioner\, a proud Wexner Graduate Fellow & Davidson Scholar\, and a JCCA Merrin Teen Professional Fellow. \n  \nJoey Leskin\, Director: Abroad Experience\, Kahal \nJoey is KAHAL’s London-based Director of Abroad Experience\, a role in which he helps young people connect with Jewish experiences worldwide. His love of different cultures\, education and Judaism have inspired a number of additional professional projects\, including the development of several leadership training programs and cross-cultural communication workshops. Most recently Joey has been delivering a series of lectures for Jolt focusing on remote work & managing distributed teams. Joey has been in his role at KAHAL since 2018. \n  \nBetzy Lynch\, Chief Executive Officer\, Lawrence Family JCC \nBetzy Lynch has spent almost her entire career in the JCC Movement. She has worked at the Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches; the JCC of Youngstown\, Ohio; the Memphis JCC and the Levite JCC in Birmingham\, Alabama. In addition\, she was awarded San Diego Business Journal’s Business Women of the Year Award for 2019. And most recently\, she was recognized as one of San Diego Business Journal’s “SD500 Most Influential People in San Diego – 2020”. \nLynch grew up in Youngstown\, Ohio. Betzy and her husband\, Spencer and their 2 children\, Renie and Cooper who are attending San Diego Jewish Academy\, currently live in San Diego\, California. She has a passion for baking and helping other women achieve their personal and professional goals.

Historically\, the Sukkot Harvest Festival has been the Farm’s biggest event of the year. \nWhereas this year we are not able to gather in the traditional sense\, we are grateful to still bring community together to experience Sukkot from your car. People of all backgrounds are welcome. So...buckle up and get ready for Sukkot on the Farm like never before!

SUMMARY:Shine the Light: The Narratives of Chanukah
DESCRIPTION:Why do we celebrate Chanukah? There are multiple narratives about the meaning of this holiday. Throughout history\, leaders of the Jewish people have adopted different narratives and Rabbi Chaya Gilboa will lead us through an exploration of these diverse interpretations of the holiday. If you learned one story behind Chanukah\, shine the light with us to discover more history and layers of Jewish tradition.

SUMMARY:Shine the Light: Machane Yehuda Market
DESCRIPTION:Join the Murray Galinson San Diego Israel Initiative and the Hive as we shine the light on the Machane Yehuda Market in the heart of Jerusalem with a screening of “Meet Me in the Market.” In 1962 Jackie Kennedy invited the world on a tour of the white house. In this performance\, just like she did then\, Jackie Kennedy (played by Ori Lenkinski) invites the world via camera lens\, on a tour of Machane Yehuda market – a site which is\, like her\, rich in history\, secrets\, and life. After the screening\, you will have an opportunity to hear from creator\, Ori Lenkinski\, and Elad Schecter\, founder of c.a.t.a.m.o.n. Dance Group\, for a lively discussion about the impact of the market in the city of Jerusalem.

SUMMARY:Kehilah Connections: A Global Coworking Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Are you a member of a Jewish coworking space and miss the serendipitous encounters in the kitchen\, water cooler\, and hallways? What is the secret sauce that differentiates a Jewish coworking space from other traditional office spaces? It is the positive collisions that happen while waiting in line for the coffee maker or sitting in the open space and you start discussing your upcoming program\, grant application\, or staff culture challenges. That is when the magic happens. The unplanned collaborations\, brainstorming sessions\, and support from an unexpected colleague. The virtual world has given us the gift of opening up our coworking tent to our colleagues around the globe and we want to create a space for those positive collisions. Join us for our first ever Kehilah Connections. Depending on your time zone\, bring your coffee\, your wine\, or your favorite snack. Come prepared to share a little about yourself and your work. The agenda will be led by you\, our global coworking community. \n  \nTimes: 9AM (PST) / 11AM (CST) / 12PM (EST) / 7PM (IDT) / 2AM (AEST)

SUMMARY:Hivedalah with the Farm: Shining the Light
DESCRIPTION:Please join The Hive and Coastal Roots Farm for a family-friendly Havdalah Zoom gathering led by Sharone Oren from Coastal Roots Farm\, Abby Eisen from The Hive and prayers led by Danielle Natelson. \n\nThis special edition will celebrate those that were illuminated during the Shine the Light Chanukah program and generate inspiration to continue bringing light and goodness into the new year. \nHavdalah marks the sacred separation between the week and the Shabbat. And\, while we are physically (but not emotionally or spiritually!) separate\, we can still find and create holiness together.
