Dessert & Discussion: A Filmmaker’s Exploration of Identity, Tradition and Complexity in Israel

In collaboration with the Murray Galinson San Diego-Israel Initiative, The Hive invites you to a candid discussion with award-winning Israeli filmmaker Nitzan Gilady about how sexual identity and societal expectations generate compelling films internationally, even among controversy. In an armchair conversation and through examining crucial film clips, we will address the LGBTQ+ experience in Israel, representation in Israeli cinema, and draw a connection between LGBTQ+ representation in America.

About Nitzan: Nitzan Gilady is an award-winning Israeli film director and documentarian, having received over 13 international ways and participated in over 100 international film festivals. Some of his notable films include In Satmar Custody, Jerusalem is Proud to Present, and Wedding Doll.
